Cybernet-SlashSupport on expansion mode

CHENNAI: Cybernet-SlashSupport (CSS), which provides tech support, software testing and development and remote infrastructure management (RIM) services, has announced that it has opened a new IT services facility in Chennai.

The facility is located on a leased two-acre infrastructure at Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), near Tambaram. This is also Cybernet-SlashSupport's first expansion into a SEZ (Special Economic Zone). The new facility has been set up at an investment of $4m and will become fully operational in September.

CSS, which employs around 5,000 professionals, also has an offshore facility in Coimbatore. The company has two facilities in the U.S., a near shore facility in Poland and a redundancy centre in Singapore.

"We are at an exciting phase of growth and seeing good traction from customers in the U.S. and Europe for our OpEx (Operating Expense) optimisation solutions. This expansion has been necessitated by the overall growth in the business, especially in the infrastructure management services space," a release quoted Shiva Ramani, CEO, Cybernet-SlashSupport, as saying.

The current expansion in the MEPZ is a part of CSS's ongoing strategic plan to have facilities across the city that will substantially reduce commuting time for employees to their work places. The new facility is expected to house 350 people over the next six months.

Last week, the company announced its expansion into the Middle East market. The company set up a new offshore NOC (Network Operating Centre) in Chennai in June this year. In mid 2007, CSS received funding of $25m from a consortium led by Goldman Sachs.

Cybernet-SlashSupport Strikes Partnership with South African firm

Chennai based Offshore Technology Operations Management (TOM) company CSS (Cybernet-SlashSupport), has announced that it has signed a partnership with mySolutions, a Pretoria, South Africa headquartered IT solutions company for its expansion into the technology services and support market in Africa.

CSS, which provides IT services including Tech Support, Remote IMS and Software Testing & Development, employs around 5000 employees at its offshore facilities in Chennai and Coimbatore. The company also has a facility in the US, a redundancy center in Singapore and a near shore facility in Poland.

As part of the partnership, mySolutions will market CSS’s offerings in the African market while Cybernet-SlashSupport will provide offshore technology delivery and development support. The partnership will target Government organizations, Banks, Retail and Manufacturing companies in South Africa, Botswana and Kenya with its Lotus Notes software services and support offering.

ICT (Information, Communication, Technology) is one of the major components of a successful business, which can cost a firm up to 7% of its turnover. ICT is normally a neglected area of a business due to the lack of qualified and experienced resources in the South African market.

Through the partnership with CSS, mySolutions will now have to access to skills, previously unavailable, and will be able to offer services to new and untapped opportunities in the high-end market in Africa.

The South African IT market is expected to expand in 2008 on the back of favorable economic development. This partnership combines our offshore technology capability with their strong local market knowledge and expertise. CSS expects this partnership with mySolutions to help drive growth for the company in the African market.

In February this year, CSS struck a technology partnership with Gallop for testing services.
