'Years ago when we thought about creating Cygnus we asked why? Leaving our jobs in large multinationals in prosperous lands meant an opportunity cost. Is it worth leaving all this for a new venture?'
Well, it was simple. If we had to create something instead of the gloss and granite it has to be something more important, more challenging, more exciting. It had to challenge our intellect, ideas, imagination, skills, capability, knowledge.
Our answer was to uncage knowledge. From heads of specialists, and books, and software itself. We knew we wish to uncage knowledge and activate it.
It was a canvas broader than mere technology. It needed us to be good at technology but not stop at it. We learned banking, and finance, and the mathematics of finance. And, its Physics! We learnt about music, and birds, and butterfles. About commerce. And managing large global departmental stores. And, intricacies of natural languages.
At Cygnus software is more engineering, and art, and management. But then that's what software is for us.
