Induction heating as a technology is catching up very fast in the Indian auto industry. EFD Induction is a pioneer in this technology and has been in India for more than a decade now. Mr.Hubert Reilard is the Managing Director of EFD India operations.

EFD's continuous efforts to delivery high quality equipment and applications are recognized by the industry. After having acheived the qualification for ISO 9001 and TS 16949 two years ago, EFD is now the process to get qualified for our environmental and safety policies. EFD has grown more than 25% in the last couple of years and the company expects to exceed a turnover of Rs.40 crores in the current financial year.

A majority of EFD's customers for induction hardening are manufacturers of automotive components, and, they are growing fast as well. This is the reason for the growth in the domestic market, as also for exports. The demand for high quality equipment and fast service is increasing.

EFD serves all major automotive manufacturers in India including Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Toyota Kirloskar, MICO, Rane, GKN, Brakes India, Delphi, Mahle Migma, Amalgamation Valeo, Clutch Auto, Showa, TI India and Sona Koyo to name a few. TVS is our biggest customer in two wheeler industry.

EFD group has more than 50 years of experience in induction heating technology, and is the market leader in Europe. The company is prefered supplier to most of the European car manufacturers and their suppliers. Based on this experience, engineers at Indian operations can design the machine to the specific needs of the customers in the country. EFD focuses on technically-advanced machines and processes and therefore we are in tune with the emerging demands of the domestic passenger car industry. We have set the trend for quality and innovation for the last 10 years in induction heating in the country, and we have a short and long term perspective. We made CNC controlled hardening machines more popular and affordable in the country, which includes several features for quality control and reproducibility of the process. We made, therefore, a good contribution in induction hardening to the indian automotive industry on its way to being a world-class quality.

EFD in India, together with EFD China and EFD USA, plays a major role in the conversion of EFD Group from being a mere European company to a being a globally successful company.

Advantages in induction heating, is that only the particular part is heated. In furnace heating, the furnace itself is heated and the carriage for the components. Therefor, induction heating is much more efficient. Induction heating is a relatively clean method of hardening, since we do not use any chemicals in the process of heat treatment. The induction hardening equipment can be integrated into the production line, for in-line production. Since we don't use flame, the process is quite safe, compared with other heating methods using flames.

EFD India currently exports to Malaysia, Thailand, Australia and the UAE apart from exporting to its group companies in Europe. The export value will cross Rs.150 million by the year end which also includes exports to group companies also.

All initiatives taken by all of us at EFD India will further strengthen our leading position in the country, and contribute to the leading position of the EFD group in the world market. We are confident to play a very positive role in the field of induction heating in future.
